Shalamar was originally a Los Angeles-based disco-group created by Soul Train booking agent Dick Griffey in 1975, and who later became a successful dance-trio formed by Soul Train producer Don Cornelius. The trio consisted of members Howard Hewett, Jody Watley, and Jeffrey Daniel. A Night To Remember is a single from the group's 1982 release album titled Friends, which peaked at #44 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, and #8 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Soul Singles chart that year.
